At the heart of the painting are two distinct species: Goniopora spp. (Flowerpot Coral) – Hard stony corals with long, delicate polyps that sway like blossoms, thriving in turbid, high-sediment waters around Grande Island.

Favites pentagona – Known for its star-shaped, honeycomb-like patterns, these corals create striking textures and depth along our reefs.

Created with a limited harmonious palette of Phthalo Blue, Prussian Blue, Turquoise, Naples Yellow, Yellow Ochre, and Burnt Sienna, the painting balances luminous aqua hues with earthy undertones, mirroring the layered light and shadows of the undersea world.

More than just a painting, this work is also part of my Conservation Series—a pledge to raise awareness about fragile marine ecosystems and support coral rehabilitation.
